be safe, be secure
We strive to ensure that all our tenants are able to enjoy the security of their homes.
We do this by working with our five area-based Anti–Crime Partnerships in the district who include the Police, the Council, the Youth Service and other local groups, to make our communities safer places to live and enjoy.
As part of our major improvements programme a series of security measures are being carried out including fitting door and window locks, alarm systems, lockable gates and close circuit television cameras.
But there are also plenty of things that you can do to deter burglars and keep yourself and your family safe. These include:
Keeping doors locked and windows secure
Keeping any garden tools locked away
Keeping house keys and car keys out of sight
Not leaving valuables near the door
Setting alarms and time switches connected to lights and radios
if you are away from home overnight
Using window locks and deadlocks or chains on doors
Keeping an eye out for ‘bogus callers’ at the door –
remember to ask for identity from anyone you are not expecting
